Immediate challenges

Just checking in after Day 1. I certainly had to be more aware that I am NOT eating sugar... at all. This is not another of those times when I've "cut back" or am putting money in a jar every time I break my commitment. This is NO SUGAR for 30 days... so I don't get to justify and splurge when I feel like it. Allowing myself times to break the rules doesn't allow me to be successful at this challenge and successful at my health.

At Kuba's b-day dinner tonight, I might have normally ordered a glass of wine, but, tonight, I had to remember that I'm not drinking right now! And, dessert was, of course, out of the picture. I had to think about salad dressings that might have sugar added. I haven't craved sweets at all, but I had cut back significantly after Christmas, so that could be part of it.

One of our team-members, Curtis, made a good suggestion... that we weigh before and after the challenge. I certainly hope weight loss comes along with this for me, so I'll be weighing in. Thanks for the idea, Curtis!

A few tips after today...
READ labels - my brother told me about some crackers he got that had sugar in them. Yikes.
Larabars are a good substitute for power bars/granola bars/etc. I love the cherry one and it only has 3 ingredients - dried unsweetened cherries, dates and almonds. It's a great snack to have handy, so I won't, unconsciously, go grab a cookie.
Check your breath mints and breath spray for sugars.
If you haven't already, figure out how you will reward yourself after the challenge is over. It's a good way to keep yourself motivated day-to-day.
